This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.
By using StudyPro, you agree to the practices described below.

2. Minimum Age

StudyPro is intended for users aged 13 or older.
Users under 13 are not permitted to create an account.

3. Information We Collect

A. Account Information

  • Email address

  • First and last name (via Apple/Google Sign-In or user entry)

  • School, degree level, major

  • Firebase UID

B. App Data You Create

Stored securely in Firebase Firestore:

  • Semesters, courses, assignments

  • Grades and weight configurations

  • Calendar sync preferences

  • Uploaded syllabus/outlines (PDF/DOC)

  • Subscription status and usage metrics

C. Device & Technical Information

  • IP address

  • Device model and OS version

  • Crash and performance logs

  • FCM push notification tokens

  • Diagnostic information via Firebase

D. Analytics Data (US & Canada only)

Through Firebase Analytics and/or Google Analytics, we may collect:

  • Screen views

  • Session duration

  • Navigation events

  • General usage trends

  • Approximate location data (collected by Google Analytics by default)

We do not collect:

  • Precise GPS location

  • Advertising IDs

4. EU Users

StudyPro is currently offered only in Canada and the United States.
If expanded to the EU, analytics and tracking will require explicit user consent before activation.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your account

  • Sync your academic data

  • Provide reminders and notifications

  • Process subscription status

  • Improve and personalize the App

  • Analyze usage (US/Canada only)

  • Ensure security and prevent abuse

We do not sell personal information.

6. Use of Uploaded Syllabi for AI Improvement

By uploading documents (such as outlines or syllabi), you grant

  • Process documents for course extraction

  • Use anonymized and aggregated document data to train, refine, and improve our AI models

Your documents will never be publicly shared or linked to your identity.

7. Calendar, Camera, and File Access

  • Calendar access: used only to sync assignment due dates (with permission)

  • File access: used only for syllabus uploads

No access is made to photos, contacts, camera or microphone.

8. Data Retention

  • Your user data is deleted immediately when you delete your account.

  • Backup/log retention schedules follow Firebase’s internal systems and cannot be customized.

  • Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

9. User Responsibility for Backups

While StudyPro syncs via Firebase, we do not guarantee permanent storage.
Users are responsible for maintaining independent backups if needed.

We are not liable for:

  • Device failures

  • Loss caused by user error

  • Sync issues

10. Notifications

We may send:

  • Service notifications

  • Reminders and updates

  • Promotional notifications

Users may disable notifications in iOS Settings.

We do not send marketing emails.

11. Do Not Track

The App does not respond to DNT signals because analytics do not track external browsing behavior.

12. Security

We use:

  • TLS/HTTPS encryption

  • Firebase encryption at rest

  • Access restrictions and monitoring

No method of storage is fully secure, but we follow industry best practices.

13. Your Rights

You may request:

  • Access

  • Correction

  • Deletion

  • Withdrawal of consent (regions where applicable)
